Hubby and I have recently become addicted to Chicharon ni Mang Juan (Jack ‘n Jill). It is this one:
I am sure you have seen the TV ad of Mang Juan. We love this junk because although it is chicharon, it is non-pork and it’s made from dried peas. Yes, dried peas it is and it tastes really good. Well, there are three flavors that hubby and I have already tried, this one, Sukang Paombong (green), then there’s Suka’t Sili (brown) and Spicy Sisig (yellow). Among all the three, Sukang Paombong is our favorite. Suka’t Sili is way too sour and spicy for our palate. This one has just the right sourness and it does not “sting.” For us, it is just perfect. We would spend lazy afternoons (after work) munching a bag of this and pairs it with an ice-cold glass of iced tea or sometimes soda (if available).
